​​​​​​​JOB SUMMARY

• We are currently recruiting for the role of an Endoscopy Nurse. The Endoscopy Nurse supports the ward manager in providing a unified approach to high standards of patient care, support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills and autonomy. Working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Monitor, assess, and care for patients during endoscopy procedures, preparing them for the procedure, and following them afterward


• Manage endoscopic equipment, including endoscopes, biopsy forceps, and needles


• Communicate with physicians, other team members, and patients during procedure


• Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate standards, policies, and procedures


• Perform duties according to hospital policies, procedures, and standards; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations


• Utilize advanced knowledge and technical skills, including administering medications and equipment, monitoring equipment and procedures, and maintaining patient medical records


• Develop and maintain professional relationships


• Prepare administrative reports and documents, and perform other job-related duties as required


• Actively encourage good practice and personal development.


• Assist with clinical projects, standard setting, audits and quality monitoring within the clinical area.


• Report and manage untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies, and injury or drug administration as per Hospital policies and procedures.

KEY SPECIFICATION

• 3+ years’ hands on endoscopy experience


• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a constant eye on quality


• A nursing degree from a Nigerian university or a certificate as a State Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse from a recognised Nigerian Nursing School or an overseas nursing qualification accepted by the Nigerian Nursing Council
