Job Overview and Duties

• Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.


• Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.


• Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.


• Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or finger-sticks.


• Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.


• Sample collection and analyzing


• Maintain Blood bank and chemical inventories


• Maintain Laboratory equipment. Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment


• Comply with all laboratory policies and HEFFEMA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control


• Label, sort and check specimens and organize all information into the system


• Maintenance of accurate records and reporting of data


• Collection and Interpretation of Data


• Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.


• Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.


• Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.


• Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.


• Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.


• Perform all other laboratory duties as assigned.

Requirements

• MLA / MLS / MLT qualifications


• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience as a lab technician.


• Current Practicing license with MLSCN


• Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft office suits


• Experience in Health sector as a Phlebotomist


• Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters


• Excellent communication and presentation skills


• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
