Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying and acquiring new merchants for payment processing services.
- Developing and executing strategies to increase merchant acquisition, building relationships with potential merchants, and negotiating contract terms.
- Deliver revenue and market share objectives for merchant segment.
Requirements:
To achieve revenue target within state/area
- Analyzing merchant performance metrics to measure the success of merchant acquisition strategies for optimization of the overall business growth and improvement.
- Negotiating contract terms and pricing with potential merchants, ensuring they are competitive and align with the company's objectives.
- Constantly identify opportunities for increasing the business merchant base.
- Developing and managing budgets for merchant acquisition initiatives.
- Responsible for recharge sales management from strategy development to execution and ensure competitive edge and revenue target achievement.
- Track all on-going partnership and promptly circulate progress.
Achieve Share of Customer
- Ensure full-fledged achievement of New Merchant targets by driving the merchant objectives.
- Collaborating with internal teams such as sales, marketing, and product development to develop merchant-specific content and promotions.
- Building and maintaining relationships with potential merchants, providing guidance and support throughout the sales process.
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to merchant segments.
Channel branding and visibility
- Ensure appropriate and effective outlet branding is carried out in line with the “Picture of success (PICOS)” for merchants.
- Identify visibility opportunities for Smartcash brand within the merchant segments.
- Effective management of merchant POS Materials stock in the warehouses across the country to avoid damage, wastage and obsolete materials.
- Train Field Sales Team on POS deployment in line with “Picture of success”
Distribution Infrastructure
- Developing and executing a comprehensive merchant acquisition strategy that aligns with the company's goals and target audience.
- Identifying and targeting potential merchant segments through market research and data analysis.
- Develop and execute Merchant agreements, ensuring they are mutually beneficial and meet merchant and company's objectives.
Industry Awareness/Competition Intelligence
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously optimize merchant acquisition strategies and stay ahead of competitors.
- Conducting market research to understand industry trends and identify new merchant acquisition opportunities.
- To effectively report competitive activities, observe in the market.
- To immediately address or escalate any unusual activity that may be a threat to existing and potential merchants and performance of the business

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s in social sciences, marketing, business management, engineering or computer science.
- Master’s in business administration or management will be an advantage.
- Project management qualification will be an advantage.
Relevant Experience:
- 5 years of commercial/ business management experience, business development, partnership management, and distribution channel development
- Team leadership experience
- 5 –7 years of relevant experience in products management and fintech industry.

- Customer orientation
- Financial services, banking, PSB and Fintech experience will be a great advantage
Other qualities include;
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as experience in analyzing data and developing strategies to drive revenue growth.
- A deep understanding of the industry and the company's products or services is also important.
Key Competencies
- Understands accounting principles, standards (IFRS) and Banking Regulations, Knowledge of payments, ecommerce, and banking industry.
- Experience of working in Accounting /FINCON function in a Bank is a mandatory requirement.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives / options
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Offices Software e.g. Excel, PPT
- High level of proficiency in the use of Flex cube Banking/Oracle Accounting software
