About the Job



  • The ideal candidate will manage the overall operations of the company as well as develop and implement strategies, through managing operations, financial performance, investment portfolio and stakeholders’ relationships, to sustainably leverage global commodity market trends and movements.


Responsibilities



  • Work with the Board to fulfil the Company’s vision, mission, strategic objectives and uphold its values.

  • Develop the Company’s global brand, to facilitate commodity transactions, through partnerships and networks that provide high-level pedigree and access across continents.

  • Lead the periodic review of the Company’s business philosophy, vision, mission and core values, relating these to market opportunities, financial models and forecasts, as well taking initiative to address gaps, within the Company’s governance framework.

  • Cultivate trust-based relations with business partners, technical partners, shareholders, subscribers and regulatory authorities.

  • Supervise, guide and delegate duties to Executive Directors and other sub-ordinates.

  • Provide clarity in communicating Company policies, guidelines and procedures as required.


Requirements



  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field.

  • A higher degree is an advantage.

  • Minimum of 15 years related work experience, with at least 5 years in top management/ executive position, with deep knowledge and understanding of commodities derivative solutions.

  • Knowledge of financial instruments and associated techniques across asset classes.

  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of the global commodities exchange market.

  • Excellent grasp of global trends in technology, associated policy drives and global alignments on technology adoption, adaptation, safety and sustainable development.

  • Membership in relevant professional bodies, with at least one being an internationally recognized professional institution. Fellowship of such institution is an advantage.

  • Verifiable international network of professionals, organizations and commodity traders, with large volume transactions is an asset.

  • High level strategic thinking and ability to envision, as well as convey the economic imperatives and subscribers’ benefits, of the Company.

  • Strong communication skills, emphasizing clarity and concise style of presentation.

  • Conversational level skills in either Arabic, French or Hausa languages are desirable.
