The Role
- We are a fast-growing fintech company that is growing both organically and inorganically, including our recent acquisitions of Beyonic in Uganda and Capricorn Digital Limited (Baxi) in Nigeria.
- We’re looking for an experienced senior Internal Communications Specialist/Manager to help mature MFS Africa’s Internal Communications capability and lead multi-country, multi-continent internal communications in line with our growth as a company. The purpose of this role is to empower employees in support of our mission to make borders matter less.
- The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys and has experience building the strategy for internal communications and developing new communications capabilities, while also delivering high quality day-to-day communications content. Success in this role is about innovation, strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, and excellent judgment.
- The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute an internal communications strategy aligned to MFS Africa’s brand strategy, people strategy, and overall business strategy.
- They will engage with the business to understand internal stakeholder information needs and then create the related content. They will manage the production of a variety of communication vehicles (emails, articles, videos, etc.), all the while ensuring that the content is high quality and reflects MFS Africa effectively.
- As a builder, it is critical that the candidate is able and excited to produce content themselves, in addition to setting the communications strategy.
- If you are a versatile communicator who is eager to contribute to the Fintech and payments industry, this role is for you. MFS Africa operates across the continent; therefore, the ability to communicate in both French and English will be a strong advantage.
- The role is location agnostic, with a preference to be located in one of our key office locations (Accra, Johannesburg, Lagos, Nairobi).

- Experience with managing internal communications tools (e.g., email, slack, intranet, etc.)
- Experience producing content in a variety of formats (e.g., video and audio, as well as written)
- The ability to work in a fast-paced corporate environment and translate complex technical ideas into simple and compelling narratives
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the internal communications strategy and editorial calendar for all MFS Africa internal content
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration, particularly with the CEO’s Office, the Group Executive Committee (ExCo), People Operations [HR], and other key internal clients, to develop the overall internal communications strategy and support strategic communications across the Group
- Develop, manage and edit various types of engaging content in line with the overall communication, business, and people strategies,
- Coordinate and facilitate the execution of internal communications, leveraging the most appropriate channels and ensuring that messages are consistent and aligned to the strategy to reduce the ‘noise’
- Develop a “guide to internal communications” for internal stakeholders; disseminate to and train key stakeholders and broader staff on the guide
- Track performance of internal communications initiatives
- Partner with External Communications to own and curate the “single source of truth” for key internal collateral
- Keep abreast of trends and leading practice in content communications, and bring the best ideas into the organization

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Languages, Journalism, Communications or related field;
- 7-9 years related internal communications experience, ideally in corporate or fast growth environments
- Broad experience in different aspects of internal communications, e.g., change communications, strategic internal communications, etc.
- Experience living, travelling or working in multiple African countries
- Strong writing skills in English is compulsory; French is advantageous
