Conduct accurate identification and documentation of fiber routes to facilitate efficient deployment and maintenance of the fiber network.
Perform effective troubleshooting on fiber routes to identify and resolve any connectivity or performance issues, ensuring uninterrupted internet services for customers.
Utilize Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) to read and interpret fiber optic test results, identifying faults, measuring signal loss, and performing necessary adjustments.
Read and comprehend network designs, ensuring compliance with established architecture and standards for the network.
Carry out simple configurations on modems, both in bridge and routing topology, to ensure seamless and secure internet connectivity for customers.
Operate fusion machines to join optical fibers, ensuring proper splicing and reliable network connections.
Provide detailed and accurate field reports on fiber route locations, troubleshooting activities, and network configurations.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines during field operations to maintain a safe working environment.
Interact with customers professionally during field visits, addressing their concerns, and providing necessary technical support.
Ensure proper maintenance and care of field equipment, including OTDRs, fusion machines, and other tools used during operations.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent qualification.
At least 2 years proven experience as a Field Service Technician or related role in the telecommunications industry.
In-depth knowledge of fiber optic networks, OTDR operation, and fusion splicing techniques.
Familiarity with network design principles and modem configurations.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot fiber route issues effectively.
Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow network design specifications.
Proficiency in using tools and equipment related to fiber optic testing and splicing.
Adaptable to working in outdoor environments and physically capable of performing field duties.
