Job Summary
The Server/Desktop Specialist is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware/software and related infrastructure. He/she would participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure as well as ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values, enabling staff members, volunteers, and partners.
Responsibilities
- Installation and configuration of software and hardware.
- Management of NGX servers and technology tools.
- Prompt resolution of all issues and outages along with documentation of root cause(s) and resolution(s).
- Ensure top quality security through effective access controls, backups and firewalls.
- Upgrade of organisational systems with new releases and security patches, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system functionality.
- Preparation of technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.
Person Specification & Required Qualification(s)
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering discipline, Mathematics or Physics.
- Minimum of 4+ years post National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Server/Desktop Administration; experience within an Exchange or Financial services organisation preferred.
- Strong proficiency in System Administration of Linux and Microsoft Products -Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, SCCM, Powershell etc.
- Demonstratable experience with Sophos firewall.
- Demonstratable experience with Windows server clustering.
- Demonstratable experience working with backup and recovery solutions e.g. Veeam
- Sound knowledge of Virtualization -VMWare, Hyper-V
- Demonstratable experience with SAN, SAN switches e.g. Dell, Cisco, HP
- Certification in CompTIA Security+, ITIL v3 and/or Azure Cloud Certification would be an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
