Job Description



Responsibilities


Operational Leadership:



  • The COO will work closely with the CEO and other executives to develop and execute the company's operational strategies in alignment with its overall vision and mission.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure effective coordination between departments, including content production, marketing, distribution, finance, and technology.

  • Provide strategic guidance to department heads, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Implement operational best practices to optimise efficiency and effectiveness across all areas of the business.


Financial Management:



  • In conjunction with the head of finance, develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across departments.

  • Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, implement corrective measures as needed to achieve financial goals and drive revenue generation opportunities.

  • Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality and creativity.

  • Ensure adherence to financial controls, compliance, and reporting requirements.


Strategic Planning:



  • Work closely with the CEO and executive team to define and execute the studio's short-term and long-term strategic objectives.

  • Evaluate market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and potential risks..

  • Ensure content creation processes are streamlined and aligned with production schedules and distribution strategies.


Operational Efficiency:



  • Streamline operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity across all departments.

  • Implement performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the organisation’s progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimise workflows and resource allocation.


Risk Management and Compliance:



  • Identify potential operational, legal, and reputational risks,and implement strategies, appropriate processes, policies, and controls to mitigate them.

  • Ensure the company's compliance with industry regulations, copyright laws, and ethical standards.

  • Develop crisis management plans and protocols to ensure business continuity.


Partnerships and Stakeholder Management:



  • Cultivate relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry stakeholders to enhance the studio's network and growth potential.

  • Collaborate with the relevant teams to negotiate contracts and agreements.


Requirements



  • The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, Skill and/or ability required to perform this job satisfactorily:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field;

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience, with at least 4 years in leadership roles.

  • Experience within the media industry with a deep understanding of content creation, distribution, and audience engagement is an added advantage.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, business development, financial management, and budgeting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organisational levels.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate industry trends and make informed decisions.

  • Familiarity with emerging digital media platforms and technologies.
