A retail outlet is looking to engage the services of a senior accountant with the Second class upper or equivalent

• Minimum of 5 years core accounting experience (or 4 years big 4 audit experience)


• ICAN/ ACCA qualification


• At least 3 years experience leading a team and the following job description


• Strong competence and sense of ownership of the Company's financial reporting system


• Prepare / Review periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with defined accounting policies and IFRS


• Assist in the preparation of setting up the company budgets for the next financial year


• Develop system for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies


• Perform general internal audit activities for PRL


• Review posting of transactions into the accounting software


• Assist in analyzing of all general ledger accounts (Payables, Income & expenses) and adjust/propose corrections where necessary


• Monthly exports and review of the trial balance of the year in review and note areas with issues


• Analyzes financial differences, solves, and discusses the complex ones, which demands a higher hand decision to the Head of Finance


• Ensure the invoices are controlled and approved by the line management, before processing in the bookkeeping system Provide advice and updates the Head of Finance on any irregularities of concerns about invoices or any other financial matters


• Liaise with Auditors/ Tax consultant and external Auditors (FIRS/LIRS etc.) on various audit activities and maintain a good relationship with the tax authorities / auditors


• Make timely payment to the tax authorities after approval by Line Manager


• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
