Job Summary



  • Our client is looking for a Senior Procurement Manager who wants to change the current status quo with healthcare in Sub Saharan Africa.

  • S/he should have proven experience in expansion activities to help scale to its next stage of growth and expansion.

  • Your central goal is research into new cities/territories and helping with the initial setup until a local team is up and running.


Responsibilities



  • Manage and coordinate drug procurement processes and operations at a minimal lead time, right quantity, quality, and advantaged prices to ensure critical drug availability (supervise, prepare, and issue requests for quotations and purchase orders, ensure inclusion of specifications and proper documentation

  • Lead the development and execution of end-to-end Supply Chain Operations, sourcing strategies to leverage relationships with suppliers and global affiliates.

  • Develop and implement world-class supply chain management processes, procedures, techniques, and negotiation tactics and strategies.

  • Understand and monitor key trends, market factors, cost drivers, and strategic importance of targeted products in order to implement appropriate Supply Chain strategies.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction as it relates to supplier selection, qualification, negotiations, and contracting

  • Manage relevant Supply Chain KPIs including backorders, out of stock (OOS), potential out of stocks (POOS), inventory, fill rates and reject levels and continuously seek to improve them

  • Facilitate development and execution of accurate and data-based supply/demand forecasting, to enable capacity planning, inventory target setting, and performance reporting.

  • Identify and evaluate operational risks such as supply, quality (including drug safety), safety, environment, security, and regulatory compliance.

  • Analyze and maintain inventory balance between procurement and warehouse distribution.

  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the sourcing process by leveraging internal and external tools.

  • Build and maintain relationships with distributors, and manufacturers to ensure all procurement and fulfillment are met with minimal disruption to market supply.

  • Monitor the performance of service providers of warehousing and distribution against agreed KPIs and standards.

  • Resolve supply chain operational issues and formulate sustainable solutions for implementation.

  • Develop strategies to maintain supplies of needed pharmaceuticals during shortages and recalls

  • Ensure Supply Chain related policies and procedures are current and adhered to

  • Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.

  • Establish inventory targets (regular stock level and stock value assessment and control) and risk mitigation targets (e.g. for expiring and aged stock)

  • Integrate financial budgeting and operational plans with strategic objectives to improve customer satisfaction, profitability, and working capital.


Requirements



  • 8 - 12 years procurement experience within the retail and pharmaceutical industry

  • Previous experience in a large sized Pharmaceutical firm

  • Solid experience in Demand & Supply Planning, ideally from the healthcare industry.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret data and develop reports.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders at different levels

  • Have a strong strategic and execution mindset

  • Knowledge of global sourcing and procurement strategies, tactics, processes, procedures, and systems.

  • Able to work under pressure, take initiative and manage and prioritize work independently.

  • A ‘change the world’ mindset and a can-do attitude

  • Project Management skills.
