Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration:
- Provide visionary leadership, setting the strategic direction, and overseeing the overall administration of the virtual school.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain high academic standards and foster a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure effective program delivery, curriculum development, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and promote financial sustainability. Academic Program Development:
- Identify emerging trends and needs in politics, policy, and governance education, and develop/refresh academic programs to meet those demands.
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to design and update curricula, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the school and with other academic institutions or organisations to enhance program offerings.
Faculty Recruitment and Development:
- Recruit, hire, and mentor a diverse and qualified faculty team capable of delivering high-quality education in an online environment.
- Support faculty members to deliver an excellent learning experience.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation among the faculty and staff.
Student Affairs and Support:
- Oversee and support student recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for prospective and current students.
- Promote student success and engagement by providing comprehensive academic advising, mentoring, and support services.
- Establish mechanisms for student feedback, evaluate student satisfaction, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
External Engagement and Partnerships:
- Build relationships with industry professionals, government agencies, nonprofit organisations, and other stakeholders to enhance the school's visibility and opportunities for students and faculty.
- Seek external funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support the school's initiatives and projects.
- Represent the school at conferences, seminars, and other events to promote its mission and objectives.
- Additional duties may be assigned as per the specific requirements and the evolving needs of the institution. Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as political science, public policy, governance, other social science or related.
- Considerable experience in academia and in senior leadership roles.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in administrative roles and managing academic programs.
- Considerable experience with online education platforms and virtual learning environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in politics, policy, and governance.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
