Job Description: Anaesthetic Technician
- The Anaesthetic Technician plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care by providing direct clinical support to anaesthetists.
- This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of anaesthetic and ancillary equipment within the operating theatre.
- The Anaesthetic Technician will uphold the highest standards of patient care throughout all procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating Theatre Setup: Prepare anaesthetic rooms, meticulously stocking equipment and ensuring alignment with theatre-specific stocking lists.
- Maintain the readiness of equipment trolleys in accordance with established guidelines.
- Patient Management: Greet patients upon arrival from theatre reception, cross-verify their full names and hospital numbers with wristbands, and confirm the presence of valid operative consent.
- Safely transfer patients to and from the operating room as well as post-operative care units, demonstrating attentiveness to patient comfort and safety.
- Assist in the proper positioning of patients to ensure their well-being throughout procedures.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate effectively with anaesthetists during anaesthetic procedures, offering clinical and technical support to ensure seamless execution.
- Extend assistance to the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, and other hospital units as needed.
- Equipment Management: Thoroughly inspect, sanitize, and sterilize anaesthetic machines, intravenous drugs, and ancillary equipment.
- Prepare, apply, and configure patient monitoring equipment to enable accurate vital sign tracking.
- Professionalism and Care: Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times, maintaining the highest level of clinical competence.
- Provide expert assistance to anaesthetists throughout anaesthetic procedures and other medical interventions.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other assigned responsibilities that contribute to the efficient functioning of the healthcare team and the overall patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Relevant certification or degree in Anaesthetic Technology or a related field.
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree.
- Certificate of Training as Anaesthetic Technician.
- 2 - 3 years post qualification experience is desired.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within an operating theatre environment.
- Proficiency in handling and maintaining anaesthetic equipment and associated tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication abilities to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and support staff.
