Our client is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in our hotel, you will play a crucial role in supporting the head the fin delivering high-quality dining experiences to our guests.
Your responsibilities will involve a combination of food preparation, kitchen organization, cleanliness maintenance, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Assist chefs and cooks in preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning. Help in assembling dishes according to recipes and guidelines.
Cooking Assistance: Support the kitchen staff during cooking processes by monitoring stove tops, ovens, and grills. Prepare basic dishes under supervision.
Stock Management: Maintain an organized inventory of ingredients and supplies. Notify the head chef or supervisor when supplies are running low to ensure timely restocking.
Cleaning and Sanitization: Ensure a clean and sanitized kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment. Regularly clean surfaces, countertops, and floors to meet hygiene standards.
Kitchen Organization: Arrange and organize ingredients, utensils, and equipment in a systematic manner for efficient workflow. Assist in maintaining a clutter-free and safe kitchen space.
Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation practices. Maintain knowledge of allergen information and dietary restrictions.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Communicate and coordinate with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff.
Adaptability: Be prepared to assist in various kitchen tasks as needed, ranging from prepping ingredients to assisting with special events or catering orders.
Qualifications
Education: HND or equivalent. Culinary or hospitality education is a plus.
2 - 3 years work experience.
Experience: Prior experience as a kitchen assistant or in a related role is preferred but not always required.
Basic Culinary Skills: Familiarity with basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
Hygiene Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, including proper hand washing, cross-contamination prevention, and storage guidelines.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team to achieve common goals.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, especially in food presentation and cleanliness.
