BACKGROUND


A Community Healthcare Organization in Lagos has acquired a grant for community healthcare services for TB and HIV and setting up a team of community healthcare officers to drive the implementation of the project in several LGAs in the State; therefore, we seek to hire a Full-Time Accountant for an ASAP resumption to create excellent support and office base for the programs.


ROLE AND PURPOSE



  • Assist senior management, office manager, project teams, and all staff members to ensure the accurate keeping of all books of account for the project and office operations, including checking accounts, equipment and supply registers, and all accounting records.

  • Work with senior management and other unit heads to lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, including the financial status of subproject account activities with accompanying bank documentation and receipts.

  • Ability to monitor subproject budgets using approved work plan activities.

  • Monitor periodic expenditures of projects by analyzing financial data and producing periodic and ad hoc reports.

  • Work with staff and unit heads to provide support with the accounting workflow in the review and audit of staff and field workers' reports for reimbursement of expenditures.

  • Process cash advances, retirements, budget and petty cash management, and refunds with complete and correct source documents.

  • Timely filing of tax returns with state and federal taxation systems.

  • Prepare fiscal year budgets and enter them into an accounting software program.

  • Support in grant request preparations in collaboration with other unit heads.

  • Create, update, and maintain financial spreadsheets and develop budgets for office and field operations.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, budgeting, and fiscal control theory and practices.

  • Knowledge of general office practices and administrative procedures or the ability to comprehend them.

  • Proficiency using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), especially in Excel is a must-have, in addition to software skills to include automated accounting software, database spreadsheets, and Management Information Systems.

  • Handle payroll with proper verification of hours worked against salary paid and ensure timely salary payment.


Requirement



  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 3-5 years relevant experience.

  • MS/MA degree with relevant experience may apply.

  • Familiarity with USAID-funded programs, international development programs, and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria is an advantage.

  • Accounting certification or recognized equivalent is an advantage.
