- Accountable for carrying out Underwater Maintenance and Deck Operations management activities and provide support to Deck Foreman/LOLER Focal point.
- Accountable for all aspects of Deck management ensuring walkways, escape routes and laydown areas are kept clear of obstruction and have awareness of deck loading limits.
- Ensure material distribution is executed as directed by Deck Foreman all offload cargo is put onsite
- ASAP - or placed in the correct storage area.
- Ensure all materials are clearly marked up by work order number and contents and department identified.
- Ensure all Airfreight items are clearly identified and located in the freight storage area and documentation delivered to the PSS.
- Responsible to ensure all activities prioritised by PSS, Deck Foreman and LOLER Focal Point are carried out as per their instruction.
- Responsible for ensuring any individual gaps in your competency standards are closed out on a timely basis.
- Ensure high quality risk assessments are carried out for all activities, with particular attention to
- recognising the impact of change.
- Ensure waste segregation sites and chemical storage areas are maintained to a high standard.
- Adhere to and promote the Integra Deck Management Program.
- Adhere to and promote the Shell LOLER Scheme of Compliance.
- Ensure maintenance procedures and control of bulk hoses is carried out.
- Ensure all backload cargo is sufficiently prepared, marked, labelled and sea fastened as per VQ Standard.
- Adhere to control and storage procedures for lifting & hoisting equipment including accessories associated with crane lifting operations.
- Assist with portable rigging operations as required and directed by PSS / LOLER Focal Point.
- Assist 3rd Party contractors complete their thorough examination of hoisting and lifting equipment.
- When applicable carry out HLO Duties/ checks and in compliance with the Shell HLO manual.
- Stand in for Deck Foreman as required, when identified and suitably trained.
- Stand in for LOLER Focal Point as required, when identified and suitably trained.
Job Requirements
- Experience / Academic Qualification / Interpersonal Skills:
- Minimum of OND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or Senior Secondary School
- Certificate/ WASC plus 10 years’ Experience in marine vessel/construction rigging can be considered
- Must be a team player but have a high degree of self-motivation.
- Must be a good communicator.
- Skill at using basic IT programs, word, excel, power point.

- OPITO Approved Rigger Assessment Stage 3.
- HLO / Refueling & Fire Team Trained.
- Dangerous Goods by Air & Sea Awareness.
- Lifting Equipment Inspection Course.
- Working at Height.
- Restricted Radio Operators Certificate.
Business & Industry Experience:
- Previous experience in both Deck and Portable Lifting Operations Onshore
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Rigger in Marine Vessel, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical plants handling various types of loads.
- In depth knowledge of heavy rigging practices, hand rigging, full understanding of Rigging
- Code of Practice, able to read Rigging Drawings, produce field drawings and interprets load charts.
- Computer literacy preferred. Capable of working at Sea.
