Job Objective 

• Network Service Engineer manages networks to ensure they function efficiently.


• Tasks such as collecting network performance data, monitoring network security, troubleshooting issues, anticipating problems and performing routine maintenance by providing second level support for service issues, service design review and network implementation.


• This will ensure efficient and effective functioning of the company network.

Key Deliverables:

Technical and operational strategy;

• Proactively scopes the technical solutions required to address network issues, assesses network needs, and recommend solutions that optimize value for the VDT Network.


• Investigates, test and recommend variety of new equipment.


• Ensure all clients requirements are met 


• Provide a robust network to deliver VDT products and services.


• Support IP Engineer’s for proper IP planning.


• Interface ISP for integration and troubleshooting


• Monitor and manage the technical IP network environments 

Service and Value 

• Review the design of network diagrams to meet customers’ needs


• Provide Level 2 network support to FSE, service management and existing customers.


• In conjunction with the network team, develop and conduct transition briefing.


• Coordinate requirements for proofs of concept with Product Management / development.


• Meetings and Documentation 


• Required to attend meetings to address the network issues and business needs of clients.


• Review and Documentation of network maps

Skills and knowledge

• BSC/HND in Electrical Engineering/Telecoms Engineering/any relevant engineering discipline


• Any of CCNP/ENCOR/SPCOR ,MTCINE, PMP,ITIL Will be an added advantage


• Minimum of 7 years working experience in Telecom or IP Service Provision environment


• Sound knowledge CISCO and Mikrotik Routers configuration.


• Sound knowledge of routing (OSPF, Eigrp RIP, BGP , MBGP)


• Sound knowledge of switching 


• Sound knowledge of MPLS Implementation and troubleshooting


• Sound knowledge of implementing QoS


• Sound knowledge of implementing VPN


• Sound knowledge of IP security


• Sound knowledge of Access Network Infrastructure


• Knowledge on LTE infrastructure


• Knowledge on Fiber infrastructure


• Knowledge on Microwave Radio


• Knowledge on VOIP


• Sound knowledge of Enterprise Network Infrastructure 


• Sound knowledge of service provider Network Infrastructure
