Job Description



We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Branch/Procurement Manager for Sasame/Oilseeds in our Kano branch.


Manage the procurement operations for the organization. Identify potential suppliers, Manage the current client base while sourcing for additional suppliers. Maximizes profit and minimizes losses; maintains a strategic and robust plan to ensure that both value and risk are well-managed. Mitigating risks within the market whilst running an effective sourcing campaign across origins.


Job Description



  • Establish and implement a clear plan for procuring sustainable commodities (such as sesame and oil seeds) to satisfy the entire demands of local and international business as well as for local processing, taking into consideration factors such as volume requirements, quality specifications and market conditions.

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing and sustainable criteria. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and pricing agreements

  • Conduct quality inspections and coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure consistency and compliance with established quality parameters. 

  • Collaborate with the sustainability team to meet the annual sustainable and traceable volume targets for sesame/oil seeds purchases. Reconcile the databases of the local buying agents and farmers, and coordinate the team for an efficient and seamless data gathering. 

  • Effectively manage the suppliers’ base by ensuring supply with no adverse impact on the business.

  • Analyze, identify and understand supply chain risks such as supply shortages, price volatility, quality variations and sustainability challenges. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to mitigate such risks. 

  • Manage ongoing relationships with suppliers, performance monitoring, problem resolution and issue management or escalation in a timely manner. 

  • Meet all key financial targets linked to the sourcing activity – value creation, receivables, and supplier debt reduction and recovery. 

  • Map out strategies to incorporate all sourcing activities to meet up with International Standards and specifications. 

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market conditions, trends, competition, sources of supply and supplier capabilities for sesame/oil seeds within and outside Nigeria. 

  • Continuously assess and improve procurement processes, 

  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost savings and quality enhancements. Implement best practices and innovative approaches to optimize procurement operations and enhance overall supply chain performance. 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the procurement field operations team – ensuring their engagement, training, development and growth within the business unit.


Requirements 



  • Minimum of Higher National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural related course.

  • Proven minimum of 5-7 years related experience in a leadership role.

  • Knowledge in commodity sourcing, trading, and sesame/oilseed sustainability programs

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

  • High level of integrity

  • Good organization and time management skills
