Job Summary
- As a Materials Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the efficient management of materials and stock to support our operations. The role requires a candidate with a solid educational background in engineering, a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in material and stock management, and a strong set of competencies.
Key Responsibilities
Material Management:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, ensuring they meet quality and quantity specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of material inventory levels, including regular stock counts and reconciliation.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage, deterioration, or loss.
- Organize materials in a logical and accessible manner for ease of retrieval.
- Assist in the identification of slow-moving or obsolete materials and recommend appropriate action.
Stock Control:
- Monitor stock levels and reorder materials as necessary to avoid shortages.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize stock levels and reduce holding costs.
- Implement and maintain a systematic approach to first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management.
- Prepare and submit reports on stock status, consumption trends, and any potential issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions related to materials, including receipts, issues, and transfers.
- Generate and distribute regular reports on material usage, stock levels, and trends.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits and compliance checks.
Quality Control:
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that materials meet the required standards.
- Identify and report any quality issues or non-conformities promptly.
