Electrical and mechanical systems at the Mill
- Develop maintenance policies and procedures that guarantee effective and efficient maintenance and repairs of machines, equipment and parts mechanically and electrically.
- Design and implement a preventive and a predictive maintenance scheme for all machines in the mill and quick response approach to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimize lines downtime.
- Carry out regular inspections of the milling machines and utilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality.
- Plan and oversee all repairs, ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates.
- Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff.
- Manage, control and monitor equipment spare-parts and inventory and place orders when necessary.
- Monitor spends and control the budget for maintenance.
- Coordinate work performed by contractors and service providers and manage relationships.
- Keep maintenance records and reports on daily activities.
- Implement health and safety policies and procedures and ensure that they are complied with.
- Continually schedule, train and supervise employees.
Electricity generation, utilities and electrical maintenance
- Ensure that resources and the means are provided for electricity generation with minimal downtime and transmitted to the company facilities.
- Guarantee an efficient distribution and utilization of electricity throughout the facility.
- Design and implement a preventive and predictive maintenance scheme for all critical electrical equipment and machines.
Information Technology
- Set the policies and procedures for all Information Technology (IT) functions.
- Manage a team of IT managers (or external service providers) and manage the company’s IT operations and the implementation of new IT systems and policies.
- Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established goals.
- Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by top management.
- Analyse the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
- Participate in the purchase of efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
People
- Train staff in new and existing methods of work and processes, safe use machinery and follow procedures.
- Oversee and coach employees.
- Supervise and evaluate performance of maintenance personnel.
- Track and set goals for performance and growth, morale and ethical standards.
- Propose schedules for maintenance employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
