Duties

Construction:

• To confer with architects and contractors as to the preparation and interpretation of plans and specifications;


• To inspect all materials going into the project;


• To be responsible for the workmanship and practices of contractors and/or crew engaged in construction;


• To assist a superior in the review of plans, specifications, and designs submitted by contractors, architects, or engineers;


• To assist in interpreting provisions of plans, specifications, and designs;


• To assure that construction work schedules are maintained;


• To be responsible for continuous inspection during construction and to ensure adherence to all building codes, plans, specifications, and safety policies;


• To monitor and continuous inspection of shop drawings, materials, and methods


• To monitor and review the work of architects, contractors, and other personnel assigned to the construction project.

Administrative Services:

• To review construction specifications prepared by the architects and contractors to ensure that all items are covered and are in agreement with the appropriate state and federal requirements;


• To review requests by contractors for changes in the plans in accordance with delegated authority;


• To ensure that all work is accomplished and that the materials utilized conform with the appropriate federal and state regulations;


• To be responsible for following the construction design in conjunction with the architects;


• To attend various meetings and submit written progress reports


• To complete related work as required.


• Ability to use autoCAD, Microsoft packages etc. (use of Revit, sketchUp or other 3D softwares is a plus).

Requirements

• Engineering Degree or suitable alternative.


• 2+ years experience as a construction inspector.


• Trained in confined space and OSHA construction safety.


• Proficient knowledge of fall protection and work zone safety.


• ACI certification.


• Valid driver’s license.


• Strong communication skills.


• Available to work shifts and over weekends.


• Ability to work in confined spaces.
