  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher to join our team at Mattoris Supermarket.

  • The Butcher will be responsible for preparing and cutting meats to meet the requirements of our customers, ensuring the highest quality and freshness.

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.


Key Responsibilities

Meat Preparation:



  • Receive and inspect meat products to ensure quality and freshness.

  • Prepare and portion meats according to customer specifications.

  • Ensure all cuts of meat are trimmed, boned, and prepared accurately.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.


Customer Service:



  • Assist customers in selecting the right cuts of meat and provide expert advice on cooking and preparation.

  • Address customer inquiries and resolve any meat-related concerns.


Food Safety and Hygiene:



  • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation of meat products.

  • Monitor meat storage temperatures and conditions to prevent spoilage.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.


Inventory Management:



  • Monitor meat inventory levels and order supplies as needed.

  • Rotate and manage meat products to minimize waste.

  • Report any discrepancies or issues with meat inventory to the Branch Manager.


Compliance:



  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies.

  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in meat preparation and handling.


Qualifications



  • Proven experience as a Butcher, preferably in a supermarket or meat shop.

  • Knowledge of different cuts of meat and meat preparation techniques

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality

  • Food safety and hygiene certification is a plus.

  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy meat cuts.

  • Team player with a positive attitude.
