Job Purpose

• Responsible for supervising and coordinating the maintenance and repair activities of machinery and equipment within the oil palm mill.


• They lead a team of mechanics and technicians, ensuring that all mechanical systems are well-maintained, operate efficiently, and meet safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Team Leadership:

• Lead and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance technical skills.


• Schedule and assign tasks to maintenance staff, ensuring coverage for routine and preventive maintenance.

Maintenance Planning and Execution:

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans and schedules for machinery and equipment. Regularly inspect equipment with a proactive approach to reduce unplanned downtime.


• Coordinate with maintenance manager and production teams to minimize downtime and disruptions.


• Oversee and assist in troubleshooting and repairing machinery breakdowns, ensuring prompt and effective solutions.

Standards Compliance:

• Uphold strict standards and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols and environmental regulations


• Promote and enforce a safe working environment and handling of all mechanical machines and equipment

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and maintenance schedules.


• Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance for management.


• Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Any other responsibility that may be assigned from time to time by Technical Officer/Maintenance Manager

Job Specification

• Bachelor's Degree/HND in a relevant Mechanical Engineering field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Qualification:

• Several years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in an industrial setting like an oil palm mill.


• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used in palm oil milling.


• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance in the palm oil industry.


• Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.

Basic Skill:

• Effective leadership and communication skills.


• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.


• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.


• Exposure to noise, machinery, varying temperatures and challenging weather conditions
