Job Purpose

• Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all mechanical maintenance and repair activities within the oil palm mill. This includes overseeing the upkeep and fabrication of mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal performance, and contributing to efficient palm oil production while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Management:

• Lead, manage and supervise mechanical maintenance and fabrication teams, including mechanics, technicians, welders, and other personnel.


• Manage the inventory of spare parts and materials required for mechanical maintenance and fabrication.


• Minimize production disruptions caused by equipment breakdowns and ensure production of quality components and parts as needed for equipment repair and modification.

Maintenance Planning and Execution:

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules and plans for all production equipment to extend their operational life and reduce unexpected breakdowns.


• Coordinate, prioritize and execute all maintenance tasks of production and processing facilities based on equipment criticality and operational needs in liaison with production teams.


• Conduct regular inspections of production equipment to pro-active identify, troubleshoot and address potential issues promptly and effectively.

Reporting, Budgeting and Cost Control:

• Prepare and manage the maintenance budgets and identify cost-effective solutions and strategies to optimize equipment lifespan and maintenance expenses.


• Monitor expenses related to maintenance and fabrication activities and seek cost-reduction opportunities.


• Maintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance and fabrication activities, including work orders, equipment history, and maintenance schedules.


• Prepare regular reports on the performance of maintenance activities, jobs executed and resources utilized.

Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce strict safety standards within the maintenance department. Ensure that welding and mechanical work procedures adhere to safety and quality standards.


• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to maintenance and fabrication activities.


• Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.

Leadership and development:

• Provide leadership to the maintenance department and maintain clear communications with other technical managers.


• Give guidance, training, and support to enhance the skills and knowledge of the maintenance team.


• Identify and develop channels for improvement in the capacities and efficiencies of workforce and equipment in accordance with requirements and technical innovations

Additional Responsibilities:

• Any other responsibility that may be assigned from time to time by COO/Factory Manager

Job Specification

• Bachelor's Degree / HND in Mechanical Engineering, any relevant Engineering field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Qualification:

• Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and fabrication, preferably in an industrial setting such as an oil palm mill.


• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used in palm oil milling.


• Proficiency in welding techniques and fabrication processes.


• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance in the palm oil industry.


• Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.

Basic Skill:

• Effective leadership and communication skills.


• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including walking and climbing stairs.


• Exposure to noise, machinery, varying temperatures and challenging weather conditions
