Communicating with clients to discuss project details and answer questions about surveys
Examining parcel maps, plat books, tax records, title abstracts, and other records to determine ownership of land parcels
Conducting surveys to identify and map property boundaries including street intersections, lot lines, and other features
Maintaining field notes during fieldwork using hand-held computers or paper logs to record data such as time, location, and weather conditions
Performing calculations to determine the area of irregularly shaped parcels of land using methods such as metes and bounds or global positioning systems (GPS)
Collecting data regarding topography, natural resources, vegetation, and soil composition of an area
Using computers to create maps and other visual representations of survey results using drafting software such as AutoCAD or ArcGIS
Preparing legal descriptions of land parcels, including lot dimensions, location, and boundary coordinates.
Carryout other responsibilities as may be assigned
Requirements and skills
Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey or a similar field
Working knowledge of GPS and GIS, Previous experience as a surveyor or in a similar role
Tech savvy, including familiarity with CAD software
Attention to detail, Great organizational and leadership skills
