- The Head of Accounts is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions. This role involves providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, and managing a team of accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Present financial reports to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, providing recommendations for improvement.
Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for day-to-day operations and strategic investments.
- Optimize cash management strategies to maximize returns and minimize risks.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax, accounting, and financial reporting regulations.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the finance team.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including cost-benefit analysis, trend analysis, and financial modeling, to support strategic decision-making.
Financial Planning and Strategy:
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term financial strategies and business plans.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive business growth and profitability.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess financial risks, implementing effective risk management strategies to safeguard the company's financial assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., ICAN, CMA) is preferred.
- 12 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
