Job Summary


Successful candidate shall be a critical part of the Company. The Candidate shall be responsible for monitoring and/or advising on all legal matters, commercial contracts, and agreements. The Legal and Compliance Officer shall also ensure the Company complies with the statutory and corporate governance practices and guidelines as observed in the financial industry.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program

  • Draft a wide variety of legal agreements

  • Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters

  • Monitor the maintenance of the registers and other records required to be maintained by the Company under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA)

  • Provide internal advisory services to the business units and departments within the Company

  • Analyze and review legal agreements, legislation and documents for the Management and Board

  • Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they follow all statutory or legal requirements

  • Ensure compliance with laid down internal & external (i.e. CBN) guidelines, policies, and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required

  • Regularly audit Company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks

  • Review and advice management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures

  • Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes

  • Any other duties as may be assigned


Educational Qualification and Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a reputable higher institution

  • Member of the Nigerian Bar Association

  • Master’s degree is an added advantage

  • 3+ years legal and compliance experience, preferably in the financial sector

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate law

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Good understanding of general and specific company and commercial law

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
