Job Description
- The Accountant is to prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other financial reports, analyse treands, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incured to predict future revenues and expenses.Functions/Key Results ExpectedPrepare asset, liabilities and capital accounts entries by compiling and analysing account information.
- Document financial transaction by entering account information
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
- Summarise current financial status by collecting information
- Preparing about resource utilization, tax strategies and assumptions underlying budget forecasts, balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
- Maintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
Education and Work Experience
- University Degree in Accounting Finance or related disciplines with minimum of 5 years of working experience
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles including the generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Adequate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, getting experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues.
- Proficient use of accounting Software e.g. Sage, FreshBooks and QuickBooks
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/Year end close process
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Accuracy, strong attention to details and analytical skills
- Advance MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Professional accounting related qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or equivalent are highly desirable
