Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
- The role holder is responsible for Conducting Individual Counselling sessions using Problem Management Plus (PM+) intervention guide to beneficiaries with Mild to Moderate Mental Health Conditions coming to the Primary Health Care Centre where NCD-MH Program is being implemented.
- Ensures patients’ files are updated regularly and kept according to confidentiality standards and kept separate from other medical records.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports MoH staff in identifying cases of Mild-Moderate Mental Health Conditions in the PHCC using standard screening tools for Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
- Enrols new clients into PM+ Counselling using the inclusion criteria.
- Provides Individual PM+ counselling to clients with Mild-moderate MH conditions.
- Fills clients’ case files correctly and in timely manner.
- Ensures patients’ files are updated regularly and kept according to confidentiality standards and kept separate from other medical records.
- Provides weekly report of activities carried out to the Mental Health Activity Manager
- In close collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager, refers clients with severe Mental Health conditions to the GPs who work closely with the consultant psychiatrist.
- In collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager, facilitates the distribution of NFIs and Transport Reimbursement to beneficiaries that meets the inclusion criteria.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Professional requirements
- Candidate must obtain Minimum a Diploma of CHEW; Applicants should have at least 2 years post qualifying experience and in possession of a valid practicing certificate.
- Possess at least 2 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Experience in basic psychosocial skills is an added advantage.

- Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards, and best practices
- Manages effectively his/her own time as well as flexible and available to work overtime when needed.
- Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri, and Hausa Languages is ESSENTIAL
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
