Job Description



Psychological debriefing for staff in an organization is a a valuable tool in supporting the mental health well-being of employees exposed to traumatic events and other forms of stress. However, it is essential to approach it with care and ensure that it is conducted by trained professionals’ advisable external consultant who understand the specific needs and culture of the organization. Additionally, organizations should be mindful of potential limitations and drawbacks and provide ongoing support to employees beyond the debriefing process.


The MdM is deeply concerned with the mental health wellbeing of staff members across the mission thereby recommending for professional support by a specialist in that field who will conduct a staff debriefing sessions utilizing a hybrid approach. The consultant will provide all required staff with remote support and may suggest face-to-face session with staff members who may require this support. The above-mentioned support will strengthen staff capacity to heal from Trauma, encourage self-care and be able to manage stress related to work and life.


An agreement for 6 months will be made on the initial which may be subject to renewal based on needs of the organization.



  • To Support Emotional Recovery: Provide a safe environment for employees to process their feelings and reactions to traumatic incidents, reducing acute stress levels, and fostering emotional relief. This objective focuses on immediate well-being and psychological recovery.

  • To Promote Team Unity and Prevent Burnout: Foster team unity, facilitate sharing of practices, and address personal issues to prevent secondary traumatization and burnout. This objective focuses on team well-being, support, and growth.

  • To Prevent Long-Term Psychological Issues: By addressing initial reactions and providing timely support, psychological debriefing contributes to the prevention of long-term psychological issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • The Methodology utilized by the external facilitator will be participatory and utilize techniques such as group/team sessions and one -on-one session amongst other.


Improve Participants knowledge on:



  • To provide staff with requisite skills in managing stress and practicing positive adopting positive self-care practices

  • Improve staff psychological, emotional and physical well being

  • It will help reduces immediate stress and anxiety

  • Improve coping mechanism/skills by exploring personal problems and find new ways of dealing with them

  • Early detection of issues,  It will help identify staff members who may be suffering from effect of traumatic events

  • Provide ways that will facilitate self-knowledge and self-understanding (personal growth) of MdM staff

  • Preventing secondary traumatization, burn out and other psychological suffering among staff members

  • Communicate to MdM management any concerns or special support required by staff(s) that may limit them carrying out their roles.

  • Review of mental health issues in the frontline response, mental health and psychosocial well-being

  • Trauma, healing and recovery

  • Ethical guidance in work environment

  • Stress management


Requirement



  • M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology

  • 5 years of clinical practice

  • Knowledge trauma healing and stress management

  • Registered member with the NACP
