Position Overview

• The Legal Manager will play a pivotal role in managing legal affairs related to the company's lithium mining operations. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance, manage contracts, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and contribute to the overall success of the company's legal strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Counsel:

• Provide legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on a wide range of issues related to lithium mining operations, including environmental regulations, land rights, and contractual matters.

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents associated with lithium exploration, development, and production.


• Ensure that contracts align with the company's objectives and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

• Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws and regulations relevant to lithium mining.


• Stay abreast of changes in legal requirements and proactively advise the company on necessary adjustments.

Risk Management:

• Identify legal risks associated with lithium mining activities and develop strategies to mitigate potential liabilities.


• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement risk management protocols.

Dispute Resolution:

• Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external counsel when necessary.


• Participate in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and litigation as required.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Engage with government agencies, local communities, and other external stakeholders to build positive relationships and address legal concerns.


• Represent the company in legal matters with regulatory bodies and industry associations.

Policy Development:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of legal and compliance policies to ensure consistent adherence to ethical and legal standards.

Training and Awareness:

• Provide training to internal teams on legal and compliance matters related to lithium mining.


• Foster a culture of legal awareness and ethical conduct within the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B).


• Licensed to practice law in Nigeria.


• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on natural resources or mining law.


• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, land rights, and mining laws.


• Experience in contract negotiation and management.


• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.


• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.


• Northern state of origin in Nigeria is preferred.
