JOB SUMMARY



  • Our client seeks the services of a Geologist to join its mining team on solid minerals.

  • The successful candidate will be required to conduct geological studies, analyse data and provide expert guidance to support the organisation’s mining exploration and development activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.


JOB DESCRIPTION



  • Conduct geological and geophysical studies, and provide professional guidance based on geological findings.

  • Utilise geological software and modelling tools to analyse and visualise geological data.

  • Direct and supervise mine exploration works.

  • Develop and implement exploration strategies and work plans for mining operation to deliver expectations.

  • Assist with preparation of expenses and capital budgets and workforce plans for mining sites.

  • Determine or confirm the location, size, contents and quality of mineral deposits in a mine.

  • Evaluate accessibility of the deposits and potential profitability of extraction activities.

  • Prepare technical reports and make presentations as required.

  • Advise on selection of locations to guarantee business viability.

  • Evaluate and assess risks associated with exploration and development projects.

  • Provide input on procurement of required equipment.

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations during fieldwork and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent in geology or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

  • Membership of relevant professional body is an added advantage.

  • In-depth knowledge of mineral estate economics, mineral properties.

  • Good working knowledge of legislation and health and safety issues.

  • Working knowledge of surveying technology/mine planning and development software.

  • Good analytical skills with strong scientific and mathematical background.

  • Ability to interpret maps, charts and graphical data

  • Good working knowledge of environmental, legislative and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong communication with ability to communicate technical information to all levels of the organisation.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior geologists.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong safety commitment and improvement mindset

  • Experience with geological techniques like mining, boring and numerical modelling.

  • Good knowledge of attributes of ores, soil, minerals etc.
