Job Description/Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare the catheterization lab for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals during catheterization procedures, providing technical support and ensuring a sterile environment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and condition throughout procedures, promptly addressing any issues and ensuring patient safety.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy and angiography machines to obtain clear images of the heart and blood vessels.
- Assist in the handling and passing of instruments, guidewires, and catheters during procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of procedures, including patient information, medications administered, and equipment used.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, colleagues, and oneself.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, providing immediate assistance and support as needed.
- Participate in the maintenance and troubleshooting of cath lab equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years experience
- Completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program.
- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or similar credential.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining catheterization laboratory equipment.
- Ability to assist in various cardiac procedures, including angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement.
- Expertise in using fluoroscopy and X-ray imaging for visualizing the heart and blood vessels.
- Skill in capturing clear and accurate images during procedures.
- Adherence to strict sterile techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Knowledge of pre- and post-procedure patient care.
- Ability to monitor patients for any adverse reactions during procedures.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of cath lab equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Critical thinking skills to respond quickly to emergent situations during procedures.
- Effective communication with the healthcare team, including cardiologists, nurses, and other technicians.
- Accurate documentation of patient information, procedure details, and any complications.
- Understanding and adherence to radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Participation in quality assurance activities to ensure the highest standards of care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Keen attention to detail in performing procedures and reviewing patient records.
