Job Description/Responsibilities



  • Perform complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair/replacement, and thoracic surgeries.

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to determine the most appropriate surgical interventions.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and other surgical staff, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in cardiothoracic surgery through continuous education, research, and participation in relevant conferences and seminars.

  •  Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including managing patients in critical care settings.

  • Train and mentor medical staff, residents, and fellows in cardiothoracic surgical techniques.

  • Participate in on-call schedules and respond promptly to urgent cardiothoracic surgical cases.

  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, ensuring compliance with relevant medical regulations and guidelines.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 5 years experience relevant work experience 

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Completion of a general surgery residency program.

  • Subsequent completion of a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program.

  • Board certification in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.

  • Valid medical license to practice as a surgeon.

  • Proficiency in a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve repair/replacement, lung resections, and other complex interventions.

  • Ability to perform endovascular procedures for conditions like aortic aneurysms.

  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to think critically during surgical procedures.

  • Excellent patient care skills, including effective communication and empathy.

  • Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and other surgeons.

  • Leadership skills, particularly in the operating room where coordination with the surgical team is critical.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in cardiothoracic surgery.

  • Involvement in clinical research and a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Willingness to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.

  • Adherence to ethical and professional standards in patient care and research.
