Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of deckhands, providing guidance and direction.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure that all team members are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
- Motivate and mentor the team to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
Deck Operations:
- Oversee the setup and execution of deck activities according to project specifications.
- Coordinate the loading, unloading, and securing of cargo, equipment, and materials.
- Monitor and manage the proper maintenance of deck equipment and tools.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all deck operations comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.
- Implement corrective actions to mitigate safety risks.
Communication:
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of deck activities.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and achievements.
Equipment Management:
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of deck equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery of required materials and equipment.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of deck activities, including daily reports, equipment logs, and safety documentation.
- Prepare and submit reports to management as required.
Qualifications
- Certification in relevant safety and leadership courses is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Deck Foreman or similar role in construction, maritime, or offshore environments.
- In-depth knowledge of deck operations, safety protocols, and industry standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of equipment and machinery used in deck operations.
