This job role is to ensure a safe working environment for all IBEDC stakeholders thereby improving employee productivity, loss reduction, improving the company’s image at large in line with the business objective of the company.
Job Requirements
- A first degree in safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or any related discipline.
- A postgraduate degree in any related discipline is an added advantage.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies. (ISPON); (BCSP); (ISHM).
- At least 8 years’ experience in the environmental management field within a relevant industry (Utilities, oil and gas, telecommunications, etc.) With at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
Technical Competencies
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
- Strong utilities industry knowledge and applicable HSE policies across the industry
- Understanding of applicable HSE policies, laws, and regulations
- Ability to recognize and assess safety hazards, and develop abatement/control measures
- Deep Risk management skills (risk identification and mitigation)
- Deep knowledge of safety and health standards, regulations, and liability issues.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship Management skills
- Knowledge of HSE tools/ software system

Job Responsibility
- Develop and supervise the implementation of IBEDC’s health and safety policies, procedures, processes, and plans.
- Monitors compliance with health and safety policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Analyses and escalate reports from Regional/Business Hub on the occurrence of Health and safety-related incidents and recommend corrective/preventive measures.
- Supervises the Preparation of periodic and ad-hoc health and safety reports by relevant stipulations/guidelines.
- Develop and coordinate all health and safety loss prevention programs, such as accident prevention, and protection programs, job hazard analysis workshops, training, and educational and inspection programs.
- Manage health and safety risks; evaluate and recommend risk control measures.
- Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements by incorporating relevant health and safety legislation in IBEDC’s operation/activities.
