Responsibilities
Develop and implement a challenging and comprehensive physics curriculum in accordance with national and school standards.
Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
Deliver engaging and interactive physics lessons, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technology.
Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
Administer a variety of formative and summative assessments to gauge student progress.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and collaborate with colleagues to address individual learning needs.
Oversee and organize laboratory activities, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for practical experiments.
Demonstrate and guide students in proper laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
Actively participate in and support extracurricular activities related to physics, such as science clubs, competitions, and educational outings.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in physics education, teaching methodologies, and technology through continuous professional development.
Attend faculty meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the school's academic community.
Establish effective communication with parents to provide updates on student progress, share insights into the curriculum, and address any concerns promptly and professionally.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, department heads, and school leadership to contribute to the overall success and development of the school.
Qualifications
A Degree in Physics or a related field; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.
Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.
8+ years relevant work experience.
Proven experience teaching physics at the secondary level.
Strong knowledge of the British National Curriculum for Physics.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
