Job Summary

• The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating the provision of support for students with special educational needs, ensuring that our school remains an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Coordination:

• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy.


• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Assessment and Identification:

• Oversee the assessment and identification of students with special needs.


• Work closely with teachers, parents, and external specialists to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.

Teacher Support and Training:

• Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective strategies for teaching students with diverse learning needs.


• Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff on special education topics.

Collaboration with External Agencies:

• Liaise with external agencies, specialists, and support services to provide additional resources and support for students with special needs.


• Maintain effective communication with parents and external stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

Data Management and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of students with special needs.


• Generate regular reports on the progress and achievements of students with special needs.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Education or a related field; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.


• Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.


• 4+ years relevant work experience.


• Significant experience in working with students with special educational needs.


• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in special education.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
