Job Summary



  • The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and effective chemistry lessons to students, fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic and personal development of our students.


Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and challenging chemistry curriculum in line with national and school standards.

  • Design lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Deliver high-quality and interactive chemistry lessons to students, ensuring the use of innovative teaching methods and technology.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.

  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.

  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance, and work collaboratively with colleagues to address individual learning needs.

  • Supervise and organize laboratory activities, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for practical experiments.

  • Demonstrate and guide students in proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures.

  • Actively participate in and support extracurricular activities related to chemistry, such as science clubs, competitions, and field trips.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in chemistry education, teaching methodologies, and technology through continuous professional development.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the school's academic community.

  • Establish effective communication with parents to provide updates on student progress, share insights into the curriculum, and address any concerns in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, department heads, and school leadership to contribute to the overall success and development of the school.


Qualifications



  • A Degree in Chemistry or a related field; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.

  • Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.

  • 5+ years relevant work experience.

  • Proven experience teaching chemistry at the secondary level.

  • Strong knowledge of the British National Curriculum for Chemistry.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
