Responsibilities
Develop and implement a dynamic and comprehensive French language curriculum in alignment with national and school standards.
Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that promote language proficiency and cultural understanding.
Deliver engaging and interactive French lessons, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to address diverse learning styles.
Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, communication, and a love for the French language and culture.
Facilitate language immersion experiences to enhance students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French.
Integrate technology and authentic resources to create a modern and effective language learning environment.
Introduce students to French culture, traditions, and customs through cultural activities, literature, and multimedia resources.
Organize and participate in events that promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the French-speaking world.
Administer various formative and summative assessments to evaluate student language proficiency and progress.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on language skills and collaborate with colleagues to address individual learning needs.
Stay updated on the latest developments in language education, teaching methodologies, and technology through continuous professional development.
Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the school's language program.
Establish effective communication with parents to provide regular updates on student progress, share insights into the curriculum, and address any concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with fellow language teachers, department heads, and school leadership to contribute to the overall success and development of the language department.
Participate in school-wide initiatives and events that promote language learning and cultural exchange.
Qualifications
A Degree in French or a related field; a teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.
Fluent proficiency in French and English.
4+ years relevant work experience.
Proven experience teaching French at the secondary level.
Familiarity with the British National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
