Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive and challenging accounting curriculum in accordance with national and school standards.
Create effective lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that align with the British National Curriculum for Accounting.
Deliver engaging and interactive accounting lessons, incorporating real-world examples and practical applications.
Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
Administer various formative and summative assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance, and collaborate with colleagues to address individual learning needs.
Integrate real-world scenarios and practical exercises into lessons to enhance students' application of accounting concepts.
Guide students in the use of accounting software and technology relevant to the field.
Stay updated on the latest developments in accounting education, financial regulations, and technology through continuous professional development.
Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the school's academic community.
Establish effective communication with parents to provide regular updates on student progress, share insights into the curriculum, and address any concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, department heads, and school leadership to contribute to the overall success and development of the school.
Participate in collaborative projects that promote interdisciplinary learning.
Qualifications
A Degree in Accounting or a related field; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.
Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.
4+ years relevant work experience.
Proven experience teaching accounting at the secondary level.
Familiarity with the British National Curriculum for Accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
