Job Overview

• The successful candidate must have a strong background in music education, a deep understanding of various musical genres, and the ability to inspire students of all ages.


• The Music Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and cultivating a love for music among students.

Responsibilities

Curriculum Development:

• Develop and implement a well-rounded music curriculum that aligns with educational standards and meets the diverse needs of students.


• Design lesson plans that cover a variety of musical concepts, including theory, history, composition, and performance.

Instruction and Delivery:

• Deliver engaging and effective music lessons to students of different age groups and skill levels.


• Provide individual and group instruction in various musical instruments, voice, and music theory.

Performance Coaching:

• Prepare students for performances, recitals, and competitions.


• Offer constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their musical skills and expressiveness.

Classroom Management:

• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and respect.


• Manage classroom behavior effectively and enforce established rules and expectations.

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' musical progress and understanding.


• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents or guardians.

Professional Development:

• Stay abreast of current trends and advancements in music education.


• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and parents to support the overall development of students.


• Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as needed.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Music or a related field; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is desirable.


• Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.


• 4+ years relevant work experience.


• Proven experience teaching music at a school.


• Familiarity with the British National Curriculum for Music.


• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


• Demonstrated proficiency in playing and teaching one or more musical instruments.


• Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and various musical genres.
