Job Summary

Database Management Officer is a specialized IT professional responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of databases within an organization, from design and development to maintenance and optimization. The role requires a strong understanding of database systems, security practices, and collaboration with other IT teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the organization's data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Installation, configuration and upgrading of DBMS database management system e.g. Oracle, MSSQL, Maria and MYSQL server software and related products.


• Perform timely database backup and recovery in line with procedures and policy to achieve overall banks’ objective of business continuity.


• Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) in line with banks procedures and Policies.


• Make exception reports on database related issues.


• Perform database tuning and performance monitoring in line with policies and procedures.


• Setup and maintain documentation and standards.


• Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.


• Maintain 100% uptime of all databases hosting various applications been maintained by the bank


• Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with high availability.


• Improvement and maintenance of the databases such as rollout and upgrades


• Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot, and correct problems that occur within operational database


• Document, develop, test and implement updates to operational databases.


• Recommends system enhancements to maximize application efficiency.


• Support the core banking application.


• Database Management, ensuring data integrity and database uptime.

Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or any related course of study


• Minimum of 3 - 6 years of experience with a financial institution
