Job Description
- HJFMRI Nigeria is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant.
- This position is responsible for processing a large volume of purchase order payments, withholding tax compliance, and the administration of site study advances and liquidations.
- This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely financial transactions related to procurement, taxation, and research funding in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with procurement and relevant departments to ensure the Purchase Order (PO) payment processing is executed.
- Verify POs in compliance with HJFMRI Ltd/Gte policies and budgetary.
- Validate invoices with approved POs and receiving documentation.
- Resolve discrepancies promptly to prevent payment delays.
- Oversee the timely processing of payments to vendors based on approved invoices and POs.
- Coordinate with vendors, internal departments, and regional office AP to address payment-related inquiries efficiently.
- Initiate electronic payment via Straight2bank.
- Ensure compliance with withholding tax laws and regulations for vendor payments.
- Process and withhold the appropriate tax amounts from payments and remit them to tax authorities.
- Prepare and file withholding tax reports, adhering to tax filing deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of withholding tax transactions and associated documentation for tax audit.
- Manage the allocation and disbursement of funds for research site study.
- Ensure funds are disbursed in compliance with study budgets and contractual agreements.
- Review and oversee the timely liquidation of study site advances.
- Scrutinize expense reports, receipts, and supporting documentation for liquidation requests.
- Generate and deliver regular financial reports related to study site funding and advances for all sites.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Broad experience as a Senior Accountant managing large volume of purchase orders, withholding tax, and advance liquidation transactions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, tax laws, procurement processes, and research funding.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, QuickBooks, or ERP systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance to team members

Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.
