Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate financial records:This includes recording all financial transactions,reconciling bank statements,and tracking accounts payable and receivable.
- Preparing financial statements: Accountants createfinancial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. These statements provide a snapshotof the organization's financial health and are used by investors,lenders,and management to make informed decisions.
- Tax preparation and filing: Many accountants are also responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Budgeting and forecasting:Accountants develop budgets and forecasts to help organizations track their spending and plan for the future.
- Auditing:Some accountants perform internal or external audits to ensure that financial records are accurate and comply with relevant regulations.
- Providing financial advice: Accountants can provide valuable financial advice to individuals and businesses on topics such as investments,retirement planning,and tax minimization.
Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc / HND in Accounting, Finance, or relevant Degree
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as an Accountant
- Excellent attention to details
- Proficient in accounting software and principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
