Job Description
Reelfruit’s Inventory Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining accurate inventory records. He or She will be responsible for overseeing inventory transactions, reconciling discrepancies, analyzing inventory data, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to monitor inventory movements, conducting audits, and analyzing data to optimize inventory processes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and reconcile inventory levels regularly across multiple locations and systems.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse/ inventory teams to ensure accurate recording of incoming and outgoing inventory.
- Monitor inventory movements, including issues, receipts, transfers, returns, and disposals.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare weekly inventory reports, including valuation, cost analysis, and variance reports.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory.
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports, highlighting trends and variances.
Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Conduct monthly inventory audits to verify accuracy and address discrepancies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve inventory issues.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance inventory management processes.
- Implement improvements to optimize inventory control, accuracy and efficiency.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with finance, production, procurement and supply chain teams to align inventory processes with business objectives.
- Collaborate on forecasting and budgeting exercises related to inventory.
Educational Qualifications, Experience & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Professional certificate (e.g. ACA, ACCA, & CIMA) is preferred.
- Proven experience of at least 3 years in inventory accounting or related roles within the manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, etc.).
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.
