REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information science.
- Membership of the Library Association of Nigeria
- At least 5 years’ post-graduation experience in Library management /learning resource center including e library
- Good organizational, cataloging and documentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Creative and presentation skills
- Team player
- Written and verbal communication skills
- The Job holder must be a book lover and possess the ability to inspire children with the passion for reading
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
- Collaborate with subject teachers and coordinators to ensure appropriate library resources are available to support teaching and learning.
- Provide the expertise necessary to ensure that library provision is aligned with the mission, goals and objectives of the school and materials are appropriate for use.
- Actively promotes reading and library use through activities such as book review, book club, displays, publications, reading programs and special events.
- Instill a culture of reading and life long learning in the students and ensure equitable access to information.
- To manage and be in charge of the library and supervise users (students and staff) at all times.
- To carry out regular maintenance of library materials, including book withdrawals and returns to maintain the relevant collection that supports student learning.
- To carry out classification, maintain the cataloging of books and library resources, supervising labelling, protection, display and shelving of library books and materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with external organizations and stakeholders to develop and promote an effective school library programme.
- Responsible for recommending and ordering of new relevant materials to ensure a current and balanced collection of library resources.
- To assists with tasks related to borrowing /returning library books/resource materials by helping students find resources for class assignments, inspecting returned books for damages and sending out due notices for unreturned items.
- He/she will notify students when reserved books are available.
- Ensure appropriate security measures are in place to protect library resources and effectively manage and track books overdue for return.
