Job Role



  • The Events Fundraising Manager for The AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2024 will play a pivotal role in spearheading fundraising efforts for our flagship event.

  • This individual will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing funding partnerships to support the successful execution of the AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa and the long-term sustainability of the event.


Responsibilities



  • Create, refine, and execute fundraising plans for the flagship event (AAG), ensuring financial targets are met.:

  • Research and identify potential funding sources, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors to maximize their engagement and contributions.

  • Prepare compelling and persuasive funding proposals tailored to the interests and priorities of potential donors.

  • Collaborate with the programmes and partnership teams to gather relevant information for proposals, ensuring alignment with organisation objectives.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fundraising activities and timely communications.

  • Represent the organisation at relevant conferences, events, and meetings to enhance visibility and establish connections within the funding community.

  • Actively engage in networking opportunities to expand AfriLabs' reach and influence.


Required Skills, Qualifications & Abilities

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or any related field; an MBA is an added advantage.

  • Project management qualifications and proven skills

  • Proven track record in fundraising, specifically for large-scale events and projects.

  • Self-sufficient dossier/client list and potential sponsors.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Negotiation and deal-closing presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.

  • Familiarity with donor relations and stewardship.
