Position Summary

• Your main responsibility as an assistant teacher is to provide support for the class teacher in charge.


• Your duties as an Assistant teacher include but not limited to the following:


• Responsible to the Class Teacher


• Support the class teacher in developing lesson plans and learning goals.


• Maintain daily records, track student progress and intervene to help students progress as necessary


• Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment where the unique needs of all students are met


• Arrange educational activities outside the classroom and supervise the students during breaks and mealtime


• Regularly communicate with class teacher other staff, school psychologists and counsellors, in order to meet the individual needs of each student


• Understand the class teacher’s routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day


• Serve as a translator, or giving other kinds of instructional aid to students at the class teacher's direction.


• Ensure the classroom environment meets standards for safety and cleanliness


• Other duties as assigned by the class teacher.
