Role: Generator Technician
Slot: 3
Location: Ikeja and VI, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time Employment
Responsibilities
- Monitor gauges and meters to ensure that the generator is operating efficiently
- Perform routine maintenance checks and services on generators, such as oil changes and filter replacements
- Installing new generators or replacing parts in existing generators to keep them functioning properly
- Troubleshoot and repair alternating current electrical systems on generators, automatic transfer switches, generator controls, and engine-related mechanical failures
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and initiate procurement of replacement supplies and equipment as necessary
- Make cost and material estimates; collects data for preventive maintenance system
- Perform voltage changes on generators based on the tenant’s requirements
- Re-wire, adjust, and install control panels and voltage regulators
- Maintain electrical systems and components, such as replacing fuses or fixing wiring problems
- Operate and maintain equipment used to provide electricity to customers during power outages or emergencies
- Respond promptly to problems with the generator or other electrical equipment as needed
- Operating and monitoring computerized controls for generators to ensure they are functioning properly
- Maintain activity logs
- Complete work orders and reports as needed.
Specification
- Minimum of SSCE/NABTEB/OND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience as a generator technician
- Good communication skills expressed in written and verbally
- The candidate must have a Trade Test I, II & III
- in-depth knowledge of generator readings
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations
- knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting, and maintaining tools and related equipment as needed to construct and maintain properties and equipment.
