Job Roles/Responsibilities:
Geological Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive geological analysis, including well log interpretation, seismic interpretation, and core analysis.
- Integrate geological data to generate accurate geological models and maps.
- Identify and assess potential drilling locations for optimum resource extraction.
Site Characterization:
- Conduct site characterization studies to support construction and installation projects.
- Evaluate subsurface conditions and provide geologic input for foundation design and construction planning.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure geologic considerations are integrated into construction and installation processes.
Reservoir Management:
- Manage reservoir characterization activities to optimize crude refining processes.
- Utilize advanced reservoir modeling techniques to assess reservoir performance and guide production enhancement strategies.
- Provide input for reservoir simulation studies to optimize production and recovery.
Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments related to geological factors and provide mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulations related to geological aspects of the project.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior geoscience staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, geophysicists, and environmental scientists, to achieve project goals.
Qualifications/Experience:
Education:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Geoscience, Geology, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geoscience roles within the oil and gas industry.
- Proven track record of successful contributions to maintenance, installation construction, and crude refining projects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in geological modeling software and reservoir simulation tools.
- Strong analytical and interpretative skills in well log and seismic data.
Project Management:
- Experience managing geological aspects of complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work within project timelines and budgets.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex geological concepts to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Regulatory Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental and safety regulations permitting processes applicable to the project location.
- Experience ensuring compliance with geological aspects of regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration:
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience leading and contributing to cross-functional project teams.
Certification:
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or equivalent professional certification.
Software Proficiency:
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., FLAC, SLOPE/W, Bentley PLAXIS).
